The SF Bay Area Boasts One of The Nation’s Best Regional Affiliate Marketing Groups
Posted by: Jeremy Reither
One of the biggest affiliate marketing advantages that most independent affiliate marketers enjoy is the ability to work from home. That can also be one of the biggest challenges in a fast moving industry like performance marketing. When you’re the only person in the room it’s tough to bounce ideas off colleagues. Many in the industry make up for the lack of socialization in their day-to-day by attending every e-marketing seminar under the sun. But for those weeks and months when you’re stuck at home, behind a computer, a local affiliate marketing group is a great way to share industry ideas with like-minded people.Even for those affiliate managers who work in larger companies, their affiliate marketing teams might consist of only a handful of individuals. Being able to share thoughts on the affiliate and performance marketing industry with others in your immediate geographic area (e.g.: without having to fly to the next Affiliate Summit) has its benefits.
The San Francisco Bay Area has one of the country’s best established affiliate marketing groups – the Bay Area Affiliate Managers Coalition (BAAMC) – which was founded by Phillip Kidwell (of eHealthInsurance) and Michael Brucker (of WebEx) in 2000. The group, which generally communicates via a Yahoo! group online, also holds regular Q&A sessions and quarterly networking lunches around the Bay Area. It offers affiliate managers a great opportunity to network with other professionals in their industry…and the occasional excuse to get out from behind their desks.
