We have been promising a total website re-design here at R3R for a while now…to go along with the new name and new logo. Today we release the first peek at the new design…and a little about the thought that went into it.
This blog has worked well for us, and we’re still big believers in the idea that regularly updated content is the best way to create a dialog and build trust with your potential customers. But we’re going to move away from the ‘blog-as-a-homepage’ design, and move more toward the ‘brochure style’ and ‘lead generation’ website. The blog will remain a key part of the website – it just won’t be the whole home page.
The ‘blog-as-a-homepage’ design just means that when you go to R3R.com the first thing you see is the blog – the list of the most recent posts/articles. This is a great format for some websites where the blog content is the greatest asset, and where the primary source of revenue is from advertisements. For example:
…and as much as we like to think people enjoy reading our blog posts, the bottom line is that our greatest assets (and sources of revenue) are our service offerings. And that is what a brochure website is best at highlighting – products and/or service offerings. A brochure style website is probably the style you’re most familiar with, even if you don’t know it by that name. Usually brochure style websites have a basic homepage that features images and/or text describing a short list of primary offerings, and a simple menu (home, about us, products/services, contact us). Here are some examples you may be familiar with:
The ‘lead generation’ part of the new R3R.com design just means we’ll display a ‘contact us’ button or a contact form on pages where we think people reading may want to contact us for more information.
We’re looking forward to unveiling the new design. Meanwhile, click the image above and let us know what you think by leaving a comment here.
