EtaOmega.org
About the Client:
The Alumni of the Eta Omega Chapter of Theta Chi International Fraternity – at California State University, Chico – boast more than 700 members, which is astounding for a relatively young organization (they were established in 1981). The ‘alumni corporation’ is an active group – financially, socially, and philanthropically – and is among the most cohesive fraternity alumni groups in Northern California.
Their Goals:
EtaOmega.org, the internet home of the chapter, had been in existence since the late 1990′s, and while a volunteer alumnus updated the site several times a year with news, it was a fairly static website, and offered only one-way communication (outbound). Also, due to the fact that alumni board officers changed more frequently than the website content was updated, it was a challenge to keep the contact information current. The alumni board needed an easier way to manage their website and the information on it.
As the chapter’s alumni base continued to grow in size and in age range, the alumni board required a simple and effective way to communicate to that increasingly diverse group. Paper mailings had become cost prohibitive and time consuming, so the goal was to implement the technology and processes by which the alumni board could communicate with other alumni, as well as invite participation and communication from other alumni, undergraduate members, and parents.
The board also required a method of easily accepting donations via credit card online. Paper check donatons required processes and people, and donors were looking for a simpler faster way to donate.
Priorities for all project were to keep costs as close to zero as possible (one-time as well as ongoing) while keeping simplicity and sustainability high.
